Long-range Torch Light Distribution Programme

Torch Light Programme is a community support initiative of Durgi Bhumij Foundation designed to reduce human-elephant conflict and promote peaceful coexistence between local communities and wildlife. Through this programme, torches are distributed to households in elephant-prone areas, helping residents navigate safely during nighttime and remain alert to elephant movements. The provision of torches enhances visibility and contributes to reducing the risk of accidental encounters that can lead to conflict.

In addition to distributing torches, the programme serves as an important awareness platform for educating communities about safe and responsible practices during elephant encounters. It emphasizes the significance of wildlife conservation and encourages people to adopt measures that support the protection of both human lives and elephant populations. By fostering awareness and preparedness, the Torch Light Programme helps build a culture of coexistence and mutual respect between people and wildlife.
